Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Haters

Haters

Hard to believe it’s been this long, but nearly 11 years ago the 2012 Phrase of the Year was “Haters Gonna Hate”... and it is still relevant today… maybe even more so.

The phrase means - no matter who you are and what you do or say, for one reason or another, people are not going to like it or like you... they might even hate you.

That seems especially true if you try to do what is good and right and true.

It is especially true for Followers of Jesus who are telling the world about His love, His grace, His mercy, His peace, His hope.

In today’s passage, Jesus says much the same.... “Haters Gonna Hate

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.” - John 15:18-20 NIV

If we’re striving to take up our cross and follow Christ…
If we’re striving to be and do what He has called us to be and do…
If we are striving to put our faith to work…
Then the enemy is not going like it.
Some people are not going to like it either.

Hater’s Gonna Hate.”

But we are overcomers.
We shall not be shaken.
We are not alone.
Jesus, Himself, has said that he will never leave us nor forsake us.
And He has sent the Holy Spirit to be with us, strengthen us, guide us.
His Message, His Mission and His Truth are worth it.

Hater’s Gonna Hate”... but the God of Love, our God - the one true God, is greater. His love is deep. His love is high. His love is long. His love is wide.

Haters Gonna Hate”... But love shall be victorious. In fact, we’ve already won.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
