Every Morning

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, 
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; 
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; 
therefore I will wait for him.”
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, 
to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly 
for the salvation of the Lord.”

Sometimes I really miss Ginger the Dog... even though Charlie & Molly Doodle have more than filled the void. 

This morning was one of those moments where I missed her. Ginger the Dog and I used to have this morning ritual. 

I would get up and eat breakfast while she waited patiently in her bed. Then, as soon I was done, I would walk over to the back door, unlock it and stand. Ginger the Dog would then rise and walk until she was between my legs, where I would bend over and hug her around her shoulders and rub her belly (what dog doesn’t love that?). 

Charlie and Molly haven't quite picked up the specialness of that moment... though we have developed our own daily traditions.

As I would give Ginger her morning hugs, her tail would start wagging and a smile would seem to break out on her face. As we would begin to break the hug to head outside, she would give me a few cheek kisses and we were on our way to face the day.

It was always the same most every morning. 

Yet somehow the smile and the dog hug were new every morning. 

Reminding me of God’s steadfast love and how He greets me new every day.

Let’s praise Him for His steadfast, limitless, compassionate love that is new every morning.
